DJ/Radio Producer-turned-Lawyer attempts to dress like a grown-up. Sometimes I comically fail. And I occasionally post fun stuff, like music videos, book-club reviews, or photos of beauty or oddity.
FYI: I was doing this entire blog from my Android phone, snatching moments out of my busy life for quick photos. But I hate auto-correct with a purple passion, so now I'm using the computer for most of the work. I am still using my phone for the photos, though. My photo sizes may be erratic, and the quality isn't stellar. I am not a professional blogger, and do not have time for lots of scenic poses with a great camera. I don't even own a great camera! However, I DO appreciate your continued feedback, even in the absence of photographic artistry.

I'm liking this color combination

Another snatched shot at the end of a hectic Tuesday:

So here's an older pic of some detail:

These silly little pink shoes have been getting a lot of use lately... I really want to buy yellow ones too:

My 1st anniversary prezzie from Hubby:

The earrings are nothing special though:

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this look!

Bwahahaha!

This photo looked so stupid, I had to post it:

While this pic isn't much better, I actually looked pretty sharp when I caught my reflection at work:

I guess it's a good thing I KNOW I looked better than I look... if that makes any sense....

Fun with pattern

Thursday's outfit for court and the Women's Bar potluck dinner after work, because there was no way I had time to change:

I was so stuffed! The chicken curry salad I brought seems to have been a big hit... thank you Wegman's. I really need to stop eating for the next year... I was a bit shocked at how wide I look in this photo:

This outfit was planned around the shoes, which I have never worn until now:

TaDa! I even was complimented on them.

My Photobucket was acting weird again, so no earrings pic today.

What's black, white, and pink all over?

Me, apparently:

Which shoes to perk up the black-and-white? The red ones are still at the repair shop, my red patent ones are in the basement (note to self- bring up more shoes), my new Bass ones wouldn't go. Pink it is:

I thought black earrings again would be boring, so I opted to match the shoes:

Actual heels!

I got a little daring today, mostly because I only had one court appearance, so I was willing to risk heels:

I'm wishing I had worn longer pants, because Clinton and Stacy of "What Not to Wear" would have endless fun with this floodwater look:

I grabbed these shoes I've had for ten years because they worked with the black-and-beige color scheme I had in mind:

I remember I saw them on a girl at law school, asked her where she got them... and went out and bought my own that day. The earrings I just got on clearance for a buck:

Hubby and I had Stinky AND his two-year-old sister with us for the evening:

Yeah... I'm whipped!

Saturday gathering

Saturday, Hubby and I went to a casual afternoon party involving ribs and something called "cowboy cake", which is corn cake with apple pie-filling topping. Amazing!

I wore:

And I pulled out this necklace I've had for about a million years, and rarely wear:

I think it needs a peroxide soak, along with my NZ fish hook I wore to the wedding a couple weekends ago. They are now both yellower than my teeth!

But I keep it because it's unusual, and I keep hoping I will find earrings that go with. Hasn't happened yet, though!

A good time was had by all, and I waddled out very well-fed

Visible Monday

Is actually Friday's outfit:

I'm posting it on Visible Monday... check the badge to the right! The photos aren't so fab, but I felt really pulled-together in this. I've had the scarf for ages... and only now have something that goes with it:

Earrings of serendipity- those odd little ones that work with more ensembles than I ever thought they would:

These shoes do not match the jacket- they're more orange-red while the jacket is a truer red with a tiny touch of blue, but I hoped they were far enough apart for it not to matter:

Hmm... maybe not the best idea... I'm thinking the red jacket may have been overkill, but I had court Friday so I had to wear one:

I broke down after work and took the shoes to the shoe-repair place at the mall for stretching.

Catching up from Thursday

I upgraded to a Droid 3! Which has a better camera (8 megapixels vs 5). But it's taken me a few days to figure it out enough to resume my blogging.

Thursday's outfit:

I pulled out my cute little bracelet, not that it showed very much with the sweater (pic with different outfit):

It doesn't really go with the earrings, though:

And I broke out my new red shoes:

They're a little on the toecruncher side- maybe they just need breaking in?

More new shoes and borrowed finery

Tuesday's outfit:

Hubby walked behind me at just the right time... his blue shirt is a bonus:

Said "borrowed finery" from India, of course:

I love them. They need to live at my house. But I will be good, and return them to their rightful owner. Soon. Ish.

I was hoping the beige threads in the jacket would "read" white to better go with my top. I suppose I was mistaken:

The idea was to contrast the ethnic jewelry with the preppy plaid and funky shoes... a genre-mix, as it were. Did I pull it off?

I bought these after my first foot surgery in February as a celebration, even though I knew I couldn't actually wear them until fall:

The choice was inspired by Sheila's many funky shoes, especially her extensive Fluevog collection. Mine are Bass, but I thought they were a bit more fun than the usual selection at the outlet store near me. So I snapped them up, even having no immediate use for them... contrary to the advice given on every fashion and home show ever. The advice gods must be spinning in their collective graves!

Normal shoes!

This is a week of big excitement for me... no more Crocs to work, and no more of the Bass "fuglys" I've been wearing almost nonstop for well over a year! Sunday night I reorganized my shoe closet, putting the fuglys all the way to the back. Last night I organized my sock drawer, putting knee-his and trouser sox into ziplocs by color.

So Monday was 1 of real shoes (excepting my Ariats, which I broke out last week):

I asked Hubby to get me from head to toe... but you can't really see my cute new shoes:

I still appear to have the problem of my feet looking disproportionately small next to my big legs and hips. Other than wear unprofessionally chunky shoes... maybe clown shoes... I think I'm just going to have to ignore it. Or lose a million pounds!

Until then, I adapt. Including tucking in my snakeskin-print top because it's a bit snug, and would otherwise ride up. It borderline fits... if I put on any more weight, it would be too tight:

I love the print and the flutter-sleeves. I'm deciding if I like this necklace with it:

Perhaps better with the jacket than without?

I didn't wear earrings because I couldnt find any that go with it. My hair most covers my ears now, anyway....

Chinese Auction

A couple weeks ago, there was a Chinese auction at the county building. I made out like a bandit! I won a cute little lamp, a simple wooden jewelry box I'm planning on using for Hubby's stuff, and this:

Hmmm... the necklace I won is getting a little lost in this pic. I'll try again:

It's still not showing as much of the detail as I would like... one more go:

That's as good as its going to get, I suppose. It's shineee! I wish it were a smidge shorter, but I might change the clasp to shorten it a mite. I'm liking the echo of the squiggly lines in the necklace with those in the shirt.

This type of glass pendant is really popular in this area... everyone and her sister has one. Now I finally fit in! Is that a good or bad thing?

Tossed on my reliable glass earrings to finish off the look. But with this new haircut, my daangly earrings don't show up very well anymore. Hmmmmm....

Exposed to the elements

This whole week has been nasty, rainy, and chilly... ugh! but at least I got to break out my beautiful blue top:

I spotted a teal-ish color within the pendant, so figured the this jacket would go with it and keep me cosy warm:

I feel a bit exposed in the top, like it goes too low. When I got dressed, it seemed to pass, but as the day wore on I just got more self-conscious. I don't want to sew it up, because it would cover the necklace and I love the combination of this top with it. I decided to experiment with another layer underneath:

I love how the necklace seems to sit a little higher... but the black is boring. I'm going to look for some gorgeous color to put in that space instead!

Broke these out for the first time in ages:

Borrowed finery

While at my friend's house one day, we decided to play in her jewelry box for a bit. She's Indian, and has all sorts of really splashy goodies I'm too chicken to buy for myself. So I borrowed a few goodies to play around with. Monday I came up with this outfit:

To go with this insane necklace:

I got several compliments on the necklace, and felt compelled toward honesty... it's not mine. I could not imagine myself buying something like this before... but now I will keep an open mind. It's part of my style evolution, I suppose. As in... perhaps I will develop some! ;p

RE: the self-portrait... I was super-busy all day, and Hubby had play rehearsal in the evening. So I had to get my blog shot in the ladies' room at the pub. Best I could do.

Edited to add: Whoopsie! Forgot to post my shoes... I've been wearing Crocs all summer, so I got out of the habit:

Pants (not shown- navy): Lane Bryant
Shoes: Ariat

Earrings: none... I didn't have anything that goes with this necklace

Trying your suggestions

I got a suggestion from a fellow blogger to tuck in this top:

Once I tucked it in this morning, I really felt the need for a belt. Thre is the only one I thought might work:

I'm not sure how I feel about this look... it seems to over-emphasize my too-round hips. And the pant fabric showing through the giant circle kinda bugs me. Hubby says the belt doesn't match.

Just for giggles, I tried the belt over the top:

Yeah, this looks stupid. So tuck, or wear untucked like last Friday? With or without the band at the bottom?
